Health Access Network Expands Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program Screening to their Medway and Millinocket Sites

Lincoln - Health Access Network is pleased to announce that the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program has designated our Medway and Millinocket sites as screening sites for the program.  Dr. William Jenkins, Randy Jackson PA-C, Andrea Barr FNP-C, and Dr. John Meserve will join the HAN providers from our North Lincoln and West Enfield sites in providing high-quality cancer screening to the under-served women of our communities.  We share the goal of ensuring that Maine women have access to cancer screening services regardless of their ability to pay.  By working together, it is our hope that we can decrease the deaths due to breast and cervical cancer in Maine.

Women over the age of  50 (limited openings for women aged 40-49, and symptomatic women age 35-39) at or under 250% of the federal poverty level, who have no insurance coverage, or insufficient coverage for breast and cervical cancer screening may be eligible for the program.  Special emphasis is on women over the age of 50, as well as uninsured and underinsured women, lesbians, Native Americans, and other racial, ethnic, and cultural minorities.

If women age 50 and older obtain regular screening for breast cancer, up to 32% of breast cancer deaths could be prevented.  Furthermore, virtually all of cervical cancer deaths could be prevented through regular screenings.  To inquire about whether you or a family member is eligible for the program, please contact the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program at 1-800-350-5180.
